01/21/2024 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Gavin continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach as he swings with intent. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Gavin is an athletic 5ft 7/131 middle infielder in the 2026 class. He recently performed well at the BF Preseason All American event in Florida. Defensively, he has the trust factor to make the routine play look routine. He creates solid lateral movements and takes excellent angles to the baseball. He has a clean exchange and gains both a high and low 3 qtr slot. Attacks the slow roller well and plays through the baseball. At the plate, he begins in a tall and open stance and has smooth timing. Engages his backside properly and has quick hands. Shows solid bat to ball skills and puts the ball in play with high frequency. Also sees the ball well. In game action he registered 2 BB’s and had several quality at bats. Showed versatility by jumping on the mound with a 78 mph FB, 68 velo with his CB and a sinking CH at 69-70. Overall, Gavin still has time to develop and scouts think his best baseball is still ahead of him.

10/04/2023 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic (2026) Gavin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Arizonia SOPH Fall Classic. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.25 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean presents out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Gavin is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. At SS, he starts with quick/active feet and a good prep step. Creates good fielding angles as he fields from an athletic/square fielding position with soft hands out front. Showed ability to pick out hops, with a clean transfer, and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Made on-line throws consistently, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 83mph. He showed good footwork on his DP feeds and pivots. A right-handed hitter he hits from an athletic and open stance. Smooth timing, with relaxed hands, and good barrel control at contact. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we see Gavin making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
