08/02/2011 - Vero Beach Pro Select Training and Competition - 2011 (Pre-HS) Gerardo is a 2017 graduate who plays SS. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, he is accurate to his target but his arm action is a little too long. We would like to see him work to shorten his arm stroke as this will allow him to have a quicker release. As an infielder Gerardo has good fundamentals and is a hustler. He displayed an athletic/low fielding position, soft/sure hands, fluid/active footwork, takes proper angles to the ball and has agile/playable range. He needs to field the ball out front more but overall he is a solid fielder. At the plate Gerardo showed an athletic setup, short stride and makes consistent contact. He will benefit from adjusting his swing path to match the plane of the ball and get his hands loaded earlier. Gerardo has all the potential to be a very good player in the future. If he makes the adjustments at the plate and polishes up his feeds/pivots in the infield he will be a solid player at the next level.
