11/15/2009 - College PREP - Miami Shores, FL Gerron is a long, lean, athletic player that ran a sub 7.0 60-yard dash. In the OF, Gerron has life in his body, quick feet, and works well to the ball. He finishes through the play, and his throws have life to them. If Gerron can work on loosening his actions, and form a better base when he throws, we could see his defensive skills improve even more. On the mound, his FB touched 77 MPH and his CB has some late depth. Gerron's body is projectable on the mound but improvement will need to be made. He will need to get extension on his pitches, and work to become more balanced on the mound. At the plate, Gerron has good bat speed, leverage, and strength. If he can work to tap into his strong lower 1/2, and loosen up on the bat, his offensive numbers could rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
