12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic (MS) Gil continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and utilities all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. He is aggressive on the bases with good feel. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 60-64 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and develop off speed pitches will aid in improving stock on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, has great attitude, and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/29/2024 - All-In National Showcase - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Gil is an 8th-grade first baseman and outfielder from Concord, NC, who showcases a range of skills that make him a valuable player. At first base, he exhibits active and efficient footwork, adeptly closing the distance on batted balls while picking out hops with ease and demonstrating soft hands. His quick release and high 3/4 arm slot enhance his throwing accuracy. In the outfield, he makes good reads off the bat, positions himself well behind fly balls, and delivers consistent throws into the infield. At the plate, he possesses fluid timing with his weight centered between his knees, resulting in a direct barrel path and noticeable power to the pull side. As a young prospect in baseball, he has plenty of time to develop and refine his skills further.

09/05/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Baltimore, MD Gil, a left-handed 1B/OF/LHP, recently showcased his skills at the Ripken Games in Maryland. In the field, Gil displayed solid awareness around the bag at first base, showing good positioning and defensive instincts. In the outfield, he made decent reads on balls, and his arm, with a velocity of 60 mph, was effective in making accurate throws. On the mound, Gil impressed with his ability to stay in line with his target, maintaining a strong front side in his delivery. His fastball topped out at 59 mph, and he demonstrated resilience and competitiveness in his outings, consistently battling against hitters. At the plate, Gil registered a 64 mph exit velocity, which he translated into results by collecting four hits and three walks in game action. Additionally, he produced several productive outs, further highlighting his ability to contribute offensively. Overall, Gil's defensive awareness, competitive pitching, and ability to consistently reach base make him a well-rounded player with significant potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
