12/06/2015 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Gilbert has a wiry frame with some wrist and forearm strength that should help the 2018 grad as he continues to develop. His swing is short with some separation and natural rhythm to get into position to hit. He has good head discipline and gets the bat through the zone. In the outfield Gilbert has an accurate arm and gets behind balls well. Improved range and a more aggressive approach will help him at higher levels. With a few more years to mature and continue to develop his tools, Gilbert should improve his stock.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
