09/19/2024 - BF Teams - Fall Super 17 Invitational Giovanni is a senior right-handed pitcher and third baseman from El Monte, CA, who showcased his diverse abilities at the Baseball Factory Super 17 Invitational. Defensively, he demonstrated impressive range to his glove side, utilizing efficient footwork to field balls and making accurate throws from an over-the-top release point. On the mound, he effectively coiled his rear hip, picking up his target early and displaying a solid ability to mix his pitches, keeping hitters off balance. At the plate, he initiated his swing with a short glide step, activating his hands for a level barrel path that allowed him to spray balls to all fields. Throughout the games, he exhibited a keen eye for tracking pitches, making consistent contact, and showing strong plate discipline. With another season of development ahead, this player, who brings great effort and energy to the field, is poised to make significant strides in his game.

07/24/2024 - Baseball Factory Teams - Southwest Championships 18U Giovanni Perez is a 2025 2B/RHP prospect with notable athleticism and improvement across several key areas. He set personal bests in the broad jump, 60-yard dash, and the 5-10-5 shuttle, reflecting his impressive physical development and agility. Defensively, Giovanni’s strongest attribute is his arm, which he utilizes effectively from a 3/4 arm slot. With additional repetitions at second base and some focused ladder drills, he has the potential to enhance his range and further complement his arm strength. At the plate, Giovanni hits from the right side with a squared, relaxed stance. His aggressive approach allows him to make impactful swings, and he showcased his hitting ability by collecting a single and driving in an RBI during the tournament. On the mound, Giovanni demonstrates a solid understanding of pitching strategy, consistently staying ahead in the count. His athleticism is evident as he fields his position well and maintains composure. 05/19/2024 - National Showcase - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Giovanni continues to show improvements with his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved, now displaying solid skills as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/12/2024 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Sarasota Giovanni is a 2025 2B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Spring Training in Sarasota. At 2B he starts with active feet and works from right to left. He fields from an athletic fielding position with low funnel. He made accurate throws to first base from an over-the-top arm slot and has a quick release. On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. Giovanni gets a good rear hip coil and rides out his back leg down the mound. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 70mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup. In 2 innings of work, he punched out 4 batters and only allowed a single. At the plate he hits from a crouched and square stance. Shows quick hands through the zone with good barrel control. A direct barrel path enables him to square up baseballs to the pull side. In live game action he reached base 3 times with 2 singles and a walk. He is a coachable player who was willing to make adjustments. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

11/09/2023 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in California (Ages 14-18) Giovanni is a 2025 2B/RHP out of El Monte, CA who showcased his skills during the BF Select Training and Competition. At 2B he works to center the baseball with ability to make routine plays. He made accurate throws to first base from multiple arm slots with a recorded arm velocity up to 75mph. Coaches/scouts project him as a 3 bagger. On the mound he gets to a good balance point and separates his hands on-time. He is around the zone and pitches to contact. He challenges hitters with a FB that topped out at 63mph with plus command, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball. At the plate he hits from a crouched and square stance. Shows good rhythm to swing with activated hands and has good bat to ball skills. He has good fundamentals and should improve his skillsets with continued development. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
