12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Grant continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas tournament. On the mound, he shows good mound presence, has good poise, and works with a quick tempo. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, working ahead and throws strikes with all his pitches. He goes after hitters and can works both sides of the plate and does a nice job of fielding position. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

08/07/2023 - National Showcase - Chicago, IL Grant is a tall, athletic RHP who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm to work clean/quick to the plate. He shows good deception and works through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball showed a range of 71-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Grant has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
