11/07/2010 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Greg is a young two-way player at 3B plus on the mound with a tall, lanky frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. Foot speed is below average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Feet are active as he shows a low to high approach in coming to get, playing through the baseball with his body. Glove action is soft and sure but presented late, allowing the ball to get in on his body, dictating play. Throws show accuracy and flash carry as he needs to get on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength. Offensively, Ratzel shows a balanced approach with rhythm and makes consistent contact but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-74 mph on a slight downhill plane. Off speed pitches are below average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 2 years to further develop, Greg has abilities with time and room to improve.
