06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Griffin is a big, strong, projectable player that plays 1B and RHP. He currently projects better in the mound, where he has a 86 MPH fastball which he throws on a downhill plane. He works in quick tempo, he attacks hitters, and he keeps his eyes to his target well. Griffin has a very good presence on the mound and he holds runners on base well. Added arm strength will only help Griffin continue to improve on the hill. Offensively, Griffin has active feet and athletic actions. His hands are playable, he makes routine plays, and he has a strong arm with life and carry to his target. If Griffin can work to field the ball more out in front of his body, and play more on the balls of his feet, defensive grades can get even better. At the plate, Griffin is a contact hitter with a level swing. He has good feel for the pull-side and has some pop in his bat. In order for hitting to improve, Griffin will need to loosen his grip on the bat, avoid diving, and let the ball travel deeper into the hitting zone.
