08/06/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Harmon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, he displays proper footwork and moves well laterally. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as continues to improve foot quickness. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play, getting rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action but throws too hard with velocity too close to fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Harmon is an athletic 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2019. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the whole field. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he shows a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 70-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He shows good composure and competes on the bump. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. Harmon has potential with a lot of room to continue to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
