07/22/2024 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Hayden continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.85 runner. Behind the plate, his squared setup and soft glove work indicate excellent receiving skills. His ability to track the ball well combined with effective body mechanics during the blocking process demonstrates a strong understanding of catching fundamentals. Pop times in the 2.19 range, along with accuracy / carry (84 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, his athletic and open setup supports his quick hands (91 mph exit velocity) and aggressive swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. The effective use of his lower half with an aggressive hip turn further enhances his power and overall swing mechanics.

04/07/2024 - National Showcase - Charlottesville, VA Hayden is a solid, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering ball out front. Pop times showed in the 2.16 range with accuracy / carry (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes hard consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Hayden has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Hayden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. At the event, he was 5 for 8 with multiple triples. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Richmond, VA Hayden is a strong 3B/OF prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the field, Hayden shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line with carry through his target. Long tossing can help Hayden build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He shows smooth rhythm and works through a level swing, driving the ball to his pull side. Hayden can create more consistent contact by loosening his grip on the bat. With four more years to develop, Hayden has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
