Official Scouting Report

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Hayden is a 1B/RHP prospect out of Monahans, TX who will graduate in 2025. Hayden showed improvement in all facets of his game during his time in Vero Beach, Florida. In the field, he starts in a relaxed position, with active feet, and showed good body control at the baseball. He does a good job of making the routine play. Shows a loose arm, with accurate throws, and arm velocity up to 70mph. At the plate, he hits from an even and crouched stance with comfortable hands. Does a good job of activating his lower 1/2 and staying in his legs throughout his swing. A short hand path and ability to deliver the barrel on-time. Hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. On the mound, he starts square on the rubber and has a good mound presence. He separates his hands on time and keeps shoulders in-line. He shows good arm strength and has plus command. He works off of a FB that sits 63-67mph and a 10/4 shaped breaking ball. He did a good job of competing in the strike zone and was able to record 1 strikeout in 1 inning of work. Hayden is a good player that will have a bright future in this game with continued development.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Hayden is a R/R 2-way player (1B/RHP) who continues to progress on the diamond. With the bat, this righty shows an athletic stance with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He maintains a quiet head, and tracks pitches into the zone. Swing is on-plane as he connects and hits hard line-drives. Even more power potential is there with more drive from his lower 1/2. At 1B, he hustles into a square fielding position and tracks GB's into a soft mitt. He picks out the hops, secures the ball with 2-hands and gathers well. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to increase lateral range. On the mound, this righty works to a controlled balance point and stays directional toward the dish. FB still sits in the upper 50's with slight tailing action. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. Only a 2025 grad - Montgomery has skills with still a ton of time to develop.

07/23/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Hayden is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Hayden makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Taking a quicker first step can help Hayden improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid contact. Hayden can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his swing. On the mound, Hayden gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Hayden shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph. Breaking ball sits at 46mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 47-49mph. Loosening his arm action can help Hayden improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Hayden has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Hayden is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Hayden makes the routine plays and flashes a clean exchange. He throws from a low 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Hayden improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a small load and hits against a strong front side, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Hayden can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Hayden is controlled gathering over the rubber and stays inline towards the plate, keeping his pitches around the zone. His fastball tops out at 58mph. Lengthening his arm action can help Hayden improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Hayden has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Midland, TX Hayden is a young, 2-way player with a big frame. At 3B, Hayden has efficient footwork, he makes plays, and gains ground. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a high 3/4 arm slot across the diamond. On the mound, Hayden competes in the zone, keeps his eyes on target, and lands in a closed position toward the plate. Offensively, Hayden has a tall/square stance, a short/square stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, makes direct/solid contact, and he can work the ball gap to gap. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
