01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Henry continues to show that he is one of the top defensive catchers in the country. In Arizona he once again flashed his outstanding arm strength that was on display both in the workout and during the games. His exchange and release are very quick and combine with the arm strength to get excellent times to 2B. Henry also is a polished receiver who takes pride in the little things that high level catchers do but aren't always noticed. At the plate he has a quality approach with a solid swing plane and an aggressive approach. He hits hard line drives - mainly to the pull side. Overall, Henry has the physical skills necessary to play at higher levels, but his make-up may be even more impressive. He is a leader with great passion and energy who has a very bright future.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Henry, once again, was impressive at the UA Futures event. He stood out as a high-level defensive catcher with the kind of arm strength that is a true "wow" factor. The feet worked well to throw while the exchange and release were very quick. The plus arm strength played in workouts and live game action with on line carry and consistent accuracy. Times were as low as 1.78 and stayed in the low 1.8s. Henry also showed a good feel for the game, received well and was more than willing to use his body to block balls in the dirt. Offensively, Henry generated good bat speed with an aggressive hack triggered by a leg kick. He showed barrel accuracy in BP with a mature approach that drove backspin line drives from gap-to-gap. Despite the outstanding physical tools what stood out most was Henry's energy on the field, passion for the game and leadership skills. This young prospect is a "baseball rat" with excellent make-up for the catching position. He has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

08/27/2016 - College PREP - West Harrison (NYC), NY Henry is a wiry, athletic catcher who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.24. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 1.88-1.91 with life, accuracy and on line carry to his throws. Arm strength is at a pro level as indicated by his 94 mph velocity. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. He tracks balls well, displaying a soft glove and is quick to recover through the blocking process. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying tremendous hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a very aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with good extension as he works through a strong lower half. With 2 years to further develop, Henry has the makings of a solid draft guy in 2018 as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
