Official Scouting Report

08/14/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Henry continues to show plus abilities at SS and on the mound for the next level. At SS, he attacks ground balls and displays clean / athletic hands well out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. Arm strength will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through an aggressive / level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 80-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball is outstanding, displaying 11/5 shape with late break. Changeup is quality pitch as he maintains arm speed showing a feel for. He throws a slider that resembles his breaking ball. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength.

10/16/2013 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Henry showed similar abilities both in the INF and on the mound during his time in Arizona. He shows potential at both positions with continued instruction and repetition. At 2nd base, Henry moves well, he keeps the ball in front, and he flashes a solid glove. He has a quick release, with a short arm action to his target. On the mound, Henry has a high / long arm action, consistent mechanics, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Henry has a square set-up, power into the gaps, and he stays on top of the ball.

07/26/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One North Myerclin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grade has improved as he uses his quick feet well in working around balls and squaring up, displaying clean hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to play through ground balls while presenting hands more out front. At the plate, hitting grade from the left side has improved as he shows similar abilities from both side. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, arm strength has improved as well as he topped out at 80 mph. Fastball shows a range of 77-80 mph with run and sinking action. Breaking ball is a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level, displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a solid feel for with sinking action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained.

07/15/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Henry continues to show as a SS/RHP but currently projects best on the mound for the next level and has improved his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he topped out at 84 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-84 mph with arm side run. Slider is best off speed pitch, showing a 10/4 shape, sharp break. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a slightly above average runner at 7.40. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he makes the plays and has improved defensive grade. At the plate, he shows similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and he shows a solid feel for the barrel.

06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Henry is an athletic, 2-way player at SS and on the mound as a RHP. Defensively, Henry has low hips, a good glove position, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He has a clean exchange and throws with a loose arm, accurately across the diamond. Quicker feet, a smoother backhand, and added arm strength will help INF skills improve. On the mound, Henry has a loose / free arm action, he mixes his pitches well, and he pounds the zone with strikes. He works ahead of hitters and fields his position well. Pitching can improve if Henry can finish off his pitches better and add velocity. At the plate, Henry has a good set-up, a level swing, and he gets good extension through the ball. He swings in good rhythm and uses his lower 1/2 well. Letting the ball travel and not opening his hips too soon can spike hitting grades. He is a tough competitor and showed his potential on the mound by throwing 5 no hit innings during his outing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
