07/12/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Carter continues to show as a 2B/RHP but currently projects best at 2B for the next level. He has improved his baseball tools since the last time we saw him. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Feet are active as he attacks balls, displaying clean hands. He needs to play ground balls more, continue to increase foot quickness, and present hands more out front to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 3. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late bite. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be, displaying a passion for the game.
