12/06/2009 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Holden is a young, athletic, C that hustles. As a 2012 grad, his radar velocity touched 79 MPH, and his throws to 2B have life and carry to them. Holden stays in front of the baseball well, and shows good footwork. As he further grows and matures, it will be important for him to soften his hands and step directly toward the target when throwing. At the plate, Holden has good bat speed and a level swing path. He is an aggressive hitter but will need to gain more balance, and make better use of his lower 1/2, if he want offensive numbers to improve. Holden is a young player that has tools and room for improvement. With some help and polish, Holden's numbers could be on the rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
