07/31/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Washington, DC Hosly is a solid, strong OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (6.87 60 time) well in covering a lot of ground in the OF. Throws are accurate with carry (85 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with balance. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Hosly has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
