Official Scouting Report

  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Hudson showed as a prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / easy actions. He shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an open setup. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with bat speed (80 mph exit velocity), leading to loud contact through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, he shows a 2 pitch mix, keeping hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 79-81 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with tight spin and late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with running action. Overall, Hudson is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Hudson is a 2026 LHP/OF who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. In the OF, he starts on the balls of his feet, with active/efficient footwork, and works behind/through the baseball. Gets good reads off the bat and runs good routes to baseballs. A high 1-hand catch and works with good momentum to his target. He has a clean funnel off of his right foot and keeps his feet active on his throws with an arm velocity up to 80mph. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance with comfortable hands. He shows a compact barrel path and is centered at contact. Sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph. In live game action, he proved to be a tough out, with good plate discipline, and reached base 6 times. A left-handed pitcher, he starts with a small rocker step and separates his hands on-time. He strides in-line to target and gets his chest over his front knee. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 74mph with good command, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. In 3 innings of work, he didn't allow a run and punched out 4 batters. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Hudson as he enters his freshman baseball season.

08/07/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Newnan, GA Hudson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive swing path with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a 72-73 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
