04/17/2011 - College PREP - Cedar Hill (DFW), TX Hunter is a tall, lanky, 2-way player who plays 1st base and OF. In the INF, Hunter has soft hands, fluid footwork, and good body control. He fields the ball cleanly, in a low / athletic position, and he moves around the bag well. Hunter has a quick / clean exchange, and he throws with a long / loose arm with accuracy and excellent strength to his target. Solid defensive grades can get even better if Hunter can sharpen his backhand. In the OF, Hunter has fluid / active feet, soft hands, and he goes back on the ball well. He has a loose glove, makes the plays, and his exchange is clean. Hunter shows life and good consistency to his target. At the plate, Hunter has a square / crouched stance, a short stride, and average bat speed. He has a line drive swing, gets good extension, and he stays tall on his backside. Offensive numbers can get even better with more direct hands to the ball, and a shorter, more compact swing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
