07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Vero Beach (Ages 14-18) Hunter is a young 2B/RHP that will graduate in 2016. At the plate is where Hackett shows best through a squared / balanced setup and tracks the ball well. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. In the IF, feet are active as he works to square ball balls up, displaying clean hands. He needs to play through balls more while presenting hands more out front, and increase foot quickness to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, fastball showed range of 58-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with slight break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with fading action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and hard worker. With 3 years to further develop, Hunter has abilities with time and room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
