12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Hunter showed promising tools in game play at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. Offensively, he had strength at contact and showed some life in his barrel. He laced a triple in his first AB of the tournament and showed to be almost two-tenths of a second down the line (4.7 H-1st). Improving rhythm and loosening his upper half will help to increase barrel accuracy and bat speed. At short, he makes plays and throws with carry to his target. He is sound with his backhand mechanics and has good rhythm to make all plays. Promoting his hands in front and speeding up his feet are essential to his further development. In all - Hunter played the game hard, and fought to make adjustments to further his game.

08/03/2014 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Hunter is a broad, athletic SS that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.28 60 time. At SS, he works to square balls up and makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands. He moves well laterally, flashing range in the MIF and shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls, play through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and strength in his swing with ball jumping off the bat when centered. Hunter has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
