05/07/2017 - College PREP - College Station, TX Hunter is a tall, athletic 3B/RHP who a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through his lower half. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range will continue to improve as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball showed a range of 76-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a slider that resembles breaking ball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Hunter has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
