01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at the Yankees Training Complex Hunter is a 2020 grad that projects primarily as a corner infielder. He has shown some improvements since his first workout with us. His 60 time has improved nearly a half second, now a 9.37 runner. Defensively, this 3B showed good pre-pitch instincts with ideal positioning. He works with some body control and will see improvement by improving his foot speed, general footwork, and glove hand. Offensively, this righty gets into a good, square setup with simple mechanics. His quiet head and smooth, rhythmic hands allow him to generate some BS and pop for his age/size. His hitting continues to be a strength of his game. Working on timing and getting the barrel through the zone earlier will help him improve as a hitter. On the mound, Hunter throws from an over the top arm slot, currently sitting in the low 50's. He has a decent idea for pitching and will see next level skills by developing secondary pitches and working on some mechanical issues such as finding a consistent release point, and getting better finish to his pitches. Overall, Hunter is a smart, young player who wants to learn and improve. This was evident, as we felt he got better during this event.
