Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

03/11/2018 - National Tryout - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Hunter showed nice improvements in his overall game during his last workout. At 1B, he fields athletically and his hands are soft. He moves well to the ball, makes plays consistently, and throws with accuracy and momentum toward his target. On the mound, Hunter showed a good delivery, solid extension on his pitches, and finished out over his front knee. Offensively, Hunter's hitting and power grades improved. He showed a tall set-up, good balance, and a direct barrel to the ball. He swings in good rhythm, and can spray to all fields.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Hunter is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Hunter uses his feet efficiently as he moves to field the ball in the center of his body. He presents his hands out front to field the ball and has a clean exchange to throw, keeping his throws consistently accurate to his target. Hunter can improve defensively by getting into a lower position to field the ball. At the plate, Hunter sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He gets into his load well and leads with his lower half. He takes a short swing to the ball with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact. Hunter can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Hunter shows a clean delivery and throws strikes consistently. His fastball sits from 59-61 mph with arm side tail. Hunter can improve as a pitcher by staying on top of his fastball. Overall, Hunter is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

10/16/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Hunter is a 1B/RHP who brings lots of energy the field. At 1B, he displays pre-pitch movement as he works into a low fielding position. He shows good bag awareness and keeps low throws in front of his body. On the mound, this RHP keeps his eyes locked in on his target. He gathers over the rubber, works in line towards home plate, and finishes strongly as he delivers each pitch. With the bat, Hunter presents a balanced setup. He repeats and swings level through the zone as he drives pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Soft hands
2. Lateral range
3. Arm strength
Pitching
1. Spot up
2. Develop CH
3. Stay balanced
Offense
1. Smooth swing
2. Develop more rhythm
3. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
