07/18/2024 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC Ian continues to impress with his baseball abilities on the diamond. Behind the dish, he shows a squared setup and presents a good target out front. He uses his body through the blocking process, working around balls to center out front. Pop times showed in 2.47 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. He shows a high baseball IQ, and communicates well, showing good leadership qualities behind the plate.

03/24/2024 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Ian is an athletic C/SS who is a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing pocket awareness sticking pitches in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times shows in the 2.38 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls. Glove action is firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. With 4 years to further develop, Ian has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
