08/01/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach, SC Ian is a skilled and athletic 3B who made a strong impression at the All Ripken Games. He demonstrates smooth fielding actions and quick footwork at third base, allowing him to handle ground balls efficiently and play through them with ease. His glove work is solid and presents well out front, and his quick feet help him cover a lot of ground. His throws are accurate, and with improved arm strength through a long toss program, his defensive game will only get stronger.At the plate, Ian maintains a balanced stance with quick hands and an aggressive swing path, making him a consistent hitter to all fields. He battles well with two strikes and shows a solid, disciplined approach. With continued development, Ian has significant potential to elevate his overall game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
