07/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South J.D. showed well during his time at Team One South. He worked out behind the plate and showed improvements in his receiving and blocking grades. J.D. has a solid set-up, he works around the ball well, and he shows good flexibility. He takes good angles to block, his transfer is quick, and he delivers the ball with carry and accuracy to 2nd base. At the plate, J.D. has a balanced set-up, a level swing, and pop to the pull side.

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Andreessen continues to progress in his game. Behind the plate, he controls the running game with his strong arm and clean exchange. He works in-line toward his target and throws downhill. He centers the ball in the dirt and deadens it off of his chest. During his time at the All America Pre-Season Tournament he lowered his 60 time, now running a 7.42. As a hitter, he remains simple is his approach and has good balance. J.D. gets extension through contact and has power to the gaps as he hit a couple of doubles. J.D. has skills and still has a year to improve as he is only a 2014 graduate.

10/21/2012 - College PREP - Rochester, NY J.D. continues to solid abilities, both at 3B and behind the plate. He improve his foot speed, running his fastest 60 time to date at 7.81. Defensively behind the plate, he lowered his pop times, now throwing in the range of 1.93-2.10 through a quick/clean exchange. He gains ground and makes accurate throws. At 3B, JD takes good pre-pitch movements and gets himself into a low/athletic fielding position. Playing through the ball a little more will help his defensive abilities to continue to improve. Offensively, Andreesen is aggressive and uses the whole field. He gets his lower 1/2 through and makes consistent contact, spraying the ball to all fields.

11/13/2011 - College PREP - Rochester, NY J.D. is a young two way player that will graduate in 2014. Behind the plate he shows good throwing mechanics making consistent throws to second. He is inline with his feet, has soft hands and gets around the ball well to block. He needs to try and relax his catching elbow a bit, protect his throwing hand when receiving and try and have quicker feet. In the infield, he shows good footwork, has low hands to field and makes the plays. At times he fields the ball deep and he needs to try to stop patting the glove before he catches it. At the plate he shows a solid load, short stride and good pull side ability. He needs to try and have more pre-pitch rhythm to help him relax, level out his swing path and get more use out of his lower half. J.D. is still very young and needs to continue to work on overall foot speed. He is a natural defensively and will improve his hitting with a few adjustments.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
