12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament J.T. only showed on the mound at the Academic All-American showcase. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. He shows three-pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows good mound presence and competes on the bump.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) McArdle has worked hard and made great strides in his game over the last few years and has molded himself into a solid 2-way prospect. With the bat, this strong righty steps into the box with a purpose. He works back into a good load/launch position. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone with intent as he connects with pop and drives the ball from gap-to-gap. In the OF, he has active prep and takes good routes to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He secures the ball with soft hands, gains ground through it and fires strong/accurate throws with carry into his target (arm velo now at 90 mph). On the mound, JT works tall utilizing his frame and drives downhill, in-line toward the dish. He has sound overall mechanics and repeats well. FB jumps out of his hands and cracks the mitt at 85 mph with some good cutting action. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with tight spin as he can throw it for strikes in any count. JT has a ton of upside with the tools that will easily translate into the next level.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament JT continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight tail. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

06/10/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Hoover (Birmingham), AL J.T. continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and throws from a ¾ arm slot. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, J.T. will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game and he is a sure player to follow.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament J.T. is an athletic and talented 2022 OF/RHP prospect. In the OF, J.T. has a quick first step and creates angles in his routes to the ball. He works behind the ball and keeps the ball on line to his target. At the plate, J.T. has rhythm in his body and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has a simple approach, an easy swing, and uses the whole field. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping a quiet head will allow him to stay in his leads longer through contact. On the bump, J.T. gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and stays directional toward the plate. Continuing to develop his secondary pitches will elevate his game to the next level. J.T. is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

10/15/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Birmingham, AL J.T. is a stud, 2-way player as an OF/RHP. Defensively in the OF, he hustles with active footwork as he tracks down fly balls. He has a clean exchange and makes strong throws to his target. On the mound, this RHP gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers with clean arm action as he commands his pitches for strikes. With the stick, J.T. uses an aggressive approach. He whips his barrel on a direct path fast through the zone and drives pitches from gap to gap. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
