03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Jack improved his hitting abilities and power potential at the event. He shows a tall squared setup with well above average hitting abilities with excellent power potential. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/20/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD Jack is a tall LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Mid-Atlantic Skills Training. On the mound, Jack shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-60mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 59-60mph. Loosening his arm action can help Jack improve his pitch command and velocity. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He works through a short swing and sprays the ball to all fields. Jack can create more consistent contact by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Jack is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Jack is a tall LHP/OF who will graduate in 2021. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind to play through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball ranges from 65-66 mph with sink. Breaking ball shows 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Jack has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
