04/05/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach, SC Jack played for the Stars team at the PreSeason All-Ripken Games in Myrtle Beach and showed well at 2B and as a hitter. He has sure hands in the infield, making routine plays and showing an accurate arm to 1B. He is dependable in the infield and has a good feel around the bag both feeding and turning double plays. We would like to see him be a bit more aggressive and come and get ground balls, moving through them into his throw to 1B. At the plate, he has the look of a top-of-the-order guy with good knowledge of the strike zone that leads to the ability to get on base. His swing path gets a bit uphill at times, though he shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Overall, Jack showed well at the event and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
