08/15/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Tennessee, TN Jack Gehm is a SS/Gehm that recently played at the Ripken Experience. On the mound his fastball was clocked at 53 mph. Once he gets command over his fastball, he will be a much more effective pitcher. Mechanically he was very sound throughout the tournament. At the plate he made contact virtually every time he faced pitchers. He was also able to display power as his tournament was highlighted by a home run to center field. He also had an insight to park home run that drove in two runs. Even his outs were hard hit out to all parts of the field. At this point Jack proved to be a very dangerous hitter and that will only improve as he continues to develop as a player more specifically a hitter.

08/01/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach, SC Jack is a skilled SS/RHP who showcased his talents on the diamond. At shortstop, he demonstrates smooth, fluid actions and active feet that help him effectively square up ground balls. His glove action is firm, presenting well in front, and his lateral movement is solid, with range expected to improve as he enhances his foot quickness. At the plate, Jack displays quick hands and a level swing path, utilizing all fields with a line drive approach. He approaches hitting aggressively and has a good feel for the barrel. On the mound, his fastball ranges from 55-56 mph. As he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops his off-speed pitches, his potential on the mound will continue to rise. With significant upside and room for growth, Jack has a bright future ahead in the game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
