02/17/2024 - All-In National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jack continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present lower and more out front. He shows a good feel for the backhand play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup with a strong base. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all field through a line drive approach, and shows a feel for the barrel. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball shows a range of 72-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin, gradual break, and shows potential as being a quality out pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/12/2023 - National Showcase - Troy (Albany), NY Jack is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. At 3B he shows active footwork, with ability to cut down distance, and good body control at the baseball. He shows ability to cover ground and fields from a square fielding position with a low funnel. Has a short/quick arm stroke and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Made on-line throws consistently to first base with an arm velocity up to 73mph. On the mound he works with good tempo and pounds the strike zone with both of his pitches. He gathers over the rubber, with a good balance position, and separates his hands on time. He throws a FB that sits 69-71mph with good sink, and an 11/5 shaped slider that flashes tight spin. SL was best pitch during his bullpen. At the plate he hits from an athletic and square stance. Has an on-time glide step and tracks pitches well. During his round of BP, he hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way player having a bright future on the baseball field.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jack continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Preseason Rookie event. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range will continue to improve as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 64-66 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops off speed stuff.

01/02/2022 - All-In Membership - Milton, NY Jack is an athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and he maintains balance. With 2 years to further develop, Jack has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
