11/10/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jack, an 8th grader, is a well-rounded player who excels as both a right-handed pitcher and third baseman. At third base, he shows excellent fundamentals with active and efficient footwork, always staying under the baseball. Jack is skilled at centering the ball, picking out hops effectively, and maintaining a good glove angle with a low funnel to create momentum for his throws. As a right-handed hitter, Jack starts in an open stance and keeps his barrel in the zone for a long time, staying strong in his legs and consistently squaring up line drives. He has an exit velocity up to 74 mph, showcasing his ability to generate solid contact. On the mound, Jack displays a deceptive delivery with good tempo and repeats his motion well. He throws a fastball, curveball, and change-up, keeping hitters off balance with his diverse pitch selection. With more time and continued development, Jack has the potential to refine his skills in all phases of the game and take his play to the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
