06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jack continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a big receiver, displaying clean hands. He works to square ground balls up and makes the routine plays. Glove action is soft but will benefit by presenting more out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball to utilize all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he has a huge 2 out / 2 RBI hit that got his team to the championship game. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/29/2017 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Jack is a talented 1B prospect who has an athletic build and graduates in 2020. As a right-handed hitter, Jack maintains a quiet head with a square, athletic stance with a centered balance and firm front side. He has a smooth load with a square stride as his lower half leads his swing. Jack has a direct, on-plane swing path producing square contact. He engages his core and gets good rotation. Jack is a line drive type hitter who can drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Jack plays with effective footwork and gets around the baseball to field it squarely. He has a firm glove and clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. Jack plays with momentum through his release producing accurate, strong throws. Overall, Jack has skill on both sides of the ball and can certainly impact a program at the next level.

07/24/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Jack continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 1 for 3 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Overall, Jack has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

02/07/2016 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Jack is a skilled 1B who has a strong build (5'9"/170). At 1B, he shows active/efficient footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He presents his glove and fields the ball out in front with soft/sure hands. He gathers well and turns the DP quickly with accurate feeds. As a hitter - Jack shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He swings against a firm front side, hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
