03/08/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Jack is a young (2025 grad) R/R 2-way player (C/OF) who continues to develop. With the bat, this RHH has a square setup with patience as he waits for pitches he likes. Swing is level as he connects and looks to drive the middle of the field. Swinging on a more direct path while engaging more of his lower 1/2 will aid in his development as a hitter. Behind the plate, he sits in and tracks pitches into his mitt. Arm is loose with a clean transfer to throw as he keeps his shoulders in-line. Working to replace his feet and gain more ground on his throws down will help to get more into them, helping to drop pop times. In the OF, he has active footwork and hustles to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands and makes accurate throws into his cutoff man. Continuing to play through the ball while also getting on a long toss program will help to improve his skills in the OF. Only a 2025 grad - Jack still has a ton of time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

03/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Jack is a young, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Jack tracks the ball well, sticks it cleanly, and centers properly. He has firm hands, uses his body to block, and throws with a long arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.34 seconds. In the OF, Jacks has active feet, he catches the ball at its highest point, and his arm is short and accurate to his cut off man. Offensively, Jack has a square set-up, good balance, and he keeps a still head. He swings on plane, has an opposite field approach, and uses some lower body. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
