08/08/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Cleveland, OH Jack is an athletic catcher who made a strong showing as a prospect at the All Ripken Games. Behind the plate, he demonstrates excellent pocket awareness with a firm mitt, consistently sticking pitches. He is focusing on improving his ability to get his body down more quickly during the blocking process. His pop times, averaging around 2.70 seconds, are accurate, and these are expected to improve as he builds arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Jack displays an aggressive approach, with loose hands working through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball and uses all fields effectively with a line drive approach. Jack shows a strong feel for the barrel and consistently puts the ball in play. With time and dedication, he has significant potential to elevate his game even further.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
