07/05/2024 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Jackson is a solid, strong 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He is a good receiver, displaying proper footwork around the bag. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with running action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Jackson has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
