11/16/2024 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY Jackson is a 2030 right-handed pitcher and third baseman from Scarsdale, NY, who shows a lot of promise on both sides of the game. Defensively, he works to center the baseball, making routine plays with a clean funnel and displaying good footwork. His loose arm action allows for accurate, online throws, and he pivots well on double-play balls, showing a solid understanding of defensive fundamentals. At the plate, Jackson starts in an upright stance with a square stride and a repeatable swing. He demonstrates a strong top hand, making good contact to all fields during batting practice, showcasing his ability to hit for both power and consistency. On the mound, Jackson is a three-pitch pitcher who attacks hitters with a fastball, curveball, and changeup. He gets to a solid balance point, works down the slope of the mound, and finishes in an athletic position, showing good mechanics and the ability to command his pitches. As a 7th grader, Jackson has plenty of time to continue developing his skills in all phases of the game, and with continued growth, he has the potential to be a standout player moving forward.

08/30/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Cooperstown, NY At the plate, Jackson showcased good bat-to-ball skills, consistently making contact. To enhance his success, focusing on driving the ball up the middle and correcting his tendency to step out during swings could lead to better plate coverage and more effective hits across the field. On the mound, his arsenal included a fastball and a breaking ball, both utilized effectively to pitch to contact. This approach allowed him to manage the game efficiently by inducing batters into making outs through well-placed pitches, demonstrating his control on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
