05/27/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Murfreesboro (Nashville), TN Jackson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.20 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.63. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft / clean with setup improving as he improves his flexibility. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but will benefit by getting down sooner.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jackson is an athletic 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.39. At the plate is where he shows best through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the whole field. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing. At 2B, feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and present well out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 4 years to further develop, Jackson has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
