11/17/2013 - College PREP - Houston, TX Jackson is a young, athletic 2B that will graduate in 2016 with plus tools across the board. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.17 60 time. Defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he moves well laterally and works to square balls up, displaying soft / sure hands. He works around and plays through the ball well with his body. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to improve double play feeds / turns. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic / squared setup and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, aggressive, and generate bat speed through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. With 3 years to further develop, Jackson has the makings of a special type player that will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
