Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2025 - 2025 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jackson Waydick is an exciting sophomore C/RHP with an athletic, 5'10"/ 160 lbs frame. Behind the plate, he presented the glove in front, giving a good target to the pitcher and received with strong wrists. He worked with two hands to exchange the ball and threw to second in the 2.1 range for his pops. Offensively, he had a crouched setup with loose hands and was rhythmic in his move to hit. He had a spray approach and rotated his core to generate bat speed. On the mound, he threw 3 pitches for strikes with a very impressive CH that he should continue to throw more of as it was extremely deceptive and effective. His delivery and tempo were consistent and he projects nicely as he continues to fill out. Overall, Jackson has a great future ahead of him and we look forward to continuing to track his progress.

10/02/2024 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic (2027) Jackson Waydick made a strong impression at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic, showcasing his skills as both a catcher and a pitcher while demonstrating great potential in all aspects of his game. Defensively, Jackson displayed impressive athleticism and a commanding presence behind the plate. His vocal leadership contributes to a strong defensive unit, and he recorded an impressive 2.07 pop time, demonstrating his quick release on throws. To further enhance his defensive game, focusing on arm strength and building confidence in blocking will be essential for his continued development. On the mound, Jackson showcased a solid arsenal of three pitches, effectively setting up hitters throughout his outing. He limited opponents to just one run, reflecting his ability to execute his game plan. Continued refinement of his pitch selection and command will help him maximize his effectiveness as a pitcher. At the plate, Jackson handled inside pitches with skill, showcasing very quick hands that allow him to react effectively. He recorded two hits, including a hard line drive to third base, and contributed with a stolen base, demonstrating his overall athleticism and speed. His ability to make solid contact will serve him well as he continues to develop as a hitter. Overall, Jackson proved to be a valuable player at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic, excelling in both his catching and pitching roles. With continued focus on improving his arm strength and blocking confidence, alongside his ongoing development at the plate, he has the potential to become a standout player in the future. His combination of athleticism, skill, and leadership makes him an exciting prospect to follow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
