12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament In Jacob's recent Factory outing he pitched and played third base. At third, his hands work well and he takes good first steps to make routine plays. His arm is accurate with carry to his target. Playing lower and working his hands out in front will better his level of success at the hot corner. Offensively, he has quick hands, short/level swing path, and barrel accuracy. He needs to work on utilizing the whole field, letting the ball travel and learning contact points. On the mound, his fastball sits from 76-81 MPH with arm side run. His off speed pitches are thrown for strikes consistently, while dropping in velocity, keeping hitters off balance. Staying inline to the dish and finishing more completely will help with command and some velocity increases. Overall, Jacob could potentially be a solid two-way player as he projects well either on the mound or at the hot corner.
