At SS, Jacob is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and he plays through the ball. He has a clean exchange and he makes accurate throws from multiple arm angles. On double plays, he has good turns off the bag and he makes efficient feeds. At the plate, Jacob starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he attacks the inside part of the ball. On the bump, Jacob gathers over the rubber, he finds a balance point, and he rides his back leg down hill. He gets late movement on his fastball, he has good bite on the breaking ball, and he throws his changeup down in the zone for strikes. Jacob is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
