08/09/2019 - Baseball Factory Advanced Analytics & Pro Training Experience (Ages 14-18) Jacob is an OF prospect who worked hard on his abilities during the Analytics Training Weekend. Jacob showed great effort during his speed testing and improved his times during each run, getting his 60 time as low as 7.51 seconds. Increasing lower level explosion can help increase his broad jumps as well. At the plate, Jacob shows decent posture and barrels up the ball well. Speed in the base paths can improve quickly as Jacob moves more efficiently. In the field, Jacob works behind the ball and fields in a low position. Taking a quicker first step will help Jacob track down more balls in the OF. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Jacob is an athletic and talented 2020 prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the weekend. At the plate, Jacob starts in a relaxed and squared stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position and gets his front foot down on time. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, stay in his legs, and keep his head down at contact. Creating backside drive with his lower half will allow him to get extension through contact. Jacob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

06/24/2018 - College PREP - Columbia, MD Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building ore arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a hard working and talented prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, Jacob starts in an open stance and tracks the ball well. Continuing to load his hands into the drive position and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to get the barrel to contact more consistently. Rotating the lower half and keeping the head down at contact will allow him to stay balanced through contact as well. Jacob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/15/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a hardworking OF/3B prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2020. As a right-handed hitter, Jacob has a tall, open stance with his weight on his heels. He takes a long, open stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Jacob swings hard with a good bat angle through the zone. He has a long swing path and is building bat speed. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the outfield, Jacob plays with an aggressive approach and attacks the baseball. He fields the ball deep in his stance and is working to speed up his exchange. Jacob has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Jacob has a versatile skill set and good potential to get even better with development.

05/07/2017 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Jacob is a lean, OF who will graduate in 2020. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls but needs to take better routes / angles. He makes the routine play but will benefit by working to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
