08/04/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - Mattoon, IL - PM Jacob is a small, thin, 2-way player that Pitches and plays OF. He currently projects better in the OF as he approaches his Junior year. Defensively, Jacob has a good approach, quick feet, and he takes good angles to the ball. He gets rid of it quickly and throws accurately to his target. On the mound, Jacob has good balance and direction toward the plate. He gets his pitches over the plate and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. Mound effectiveness can further improve with added arm strength, better glove side lead, and more extension. At the plate, Jacob has average balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He centers the ball well and use the whole field. Looser actions and more lower 1/2 will help offensive grades get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
