09/11/2011 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Jacob is a solid and athletic looking catcher that will graduate in 2012. Defensively he shows good flexibility, a low target and quick feet to block and throw. He makes accurate throws to his target and anticipates well while blocking. He needs to work on a quicker exchange with the glove hand, stay closed to throw and relax his glove hand when receiving. At the plate he shows a tall and closed stance, a solid load and good strength in his swing. He needs to try and work on keeping his hands inside the ball, get his front foot down earlier and relax his grip. Overall foot speed and strength will also help Jacob build on improving his overall game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
