08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob showed similar abilities in Pirate City as he did at his last workout. At 3B, Jacob attacks the ball aggressively, he keeps it in front of his body, and his hands are playable. He has a clean exchange, and a quick arm action with a ¾ slot across the diamond. Offensively, Jacob is a strong hitter with fast bat speed. He makes hard contact, can work the ball gap to gap, and has nice pop to the pull side.

03/05/2017 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Jacob is a strong, athletic 3B/OF who will graduate in 2018. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He shows strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, feet are aggressive as he works to get around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Throws are accurate but need to build more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He will benefit by working to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Jacob has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
