12/07/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and maintains center balance. He works to barrel up the baseball and uses the entire field. Taking a level swing path can help Jacob improve as a hitter. Overall, Jacob is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Jacob is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Jacob centers the ball when blocking and covers up well. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Jacob improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load well and sprays the ball to all fields. Jacob can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

08/14/2019 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Jacob has improved his baseball abilities since the last time we saw him. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 63 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.50 with accuracy on his throws. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to work to get down sooner to deaden balls out front.

12/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Madison (NYC), NJ Jacob is a thin, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Jacob sits in well, he fields athletically, and recovers well when blocking. He receives the ball well, and throws with accuracy to 2nd base. On the mound, Jacob has a clean arm action, he gets good extension on his pitches, and he competes in the zone. Offensively Jacob has a square set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He finds the barrel and has power to the pull side. Jacob can improve overall abilities with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
