04/21/2013 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Jacob is a 2-way player as a 3B and RHP who has a tall and lanky frame. Defensively, Jacob has firm hands, efficient footwork, and he fields in a square position. He gets rid of the ball well, his are is loose, and he throws with accuracy and consistency to his target. Abilities at 3B can improve if Jacob can field out front, play more through, and add arm strength. On the mound, Jacob has a free arm action, eyes on target, and he works to his balance point well. He has level shoulders, good direction toward home, and he lands in a square position. Better separation and more finish can help mound effectiveness get better. Offensively, Jacob has a tall set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, a level swing, and he can spray to all fields. Looser actions, more live hands, and better use of his lower body will help spike hitting.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
