07/18/2024 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC Jacob is a talented OF who will graduate in the 2029 class. Scouts said he worked hard and had a tremendous attitude at the National World Series event. Defensively, he has active feet and tracks the baseball well. He closes the gap with his ability to stay inside the ball flight and uses his speed (7.71 runner). His pocket has feel and creates the trust factor to make the routine play look routine. As he gains strength and maturity, scouts feel his should throw the top of the baseball more to increase length and distance on his ball flight back to the dirt. At the plate, he shows a solid feel for the zone. He collected 3 BB’s on the week in 6 at-bats. Bat speed registered 66 and working to improve his balance and shorten his path will lead to a higher power outage. Overall, scouts liked his make-up and feel with a few minor adjustments, Jacob can become a solid player.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Jacob is a 2029 2B who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At 2B he works to center the baseball and tracks ball to glove. Made throws to first base from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 56mph. At the plate he hits from a tall and even stance. A quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Jacob is a great kid and teammates loved being around him. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

11/12/2023 - National Showcase - Delray Beach, FL Jacob is an athletic 3B/OF who will graduate in 2029. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 6 years to further develop, Jacob has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
